REZZ Rocks Bewitched Us With A Nightmare On REZZ Street

The queen of Halloween has returned to claim her throne in Colorado for two nights of REZZ Rocks VI. On October 27th, REZZ summoned us to Red Rocks Amphitheater to behold the most memorable Halloween party of the year: a special Nightmare on REZZ Street set. Leading up to this spectral experience, a wicked lineup of artists would slay the decks to induce booty shaking and head-banging all night long.

J|Adore

We were met by the electrifying talent of J|Adore as soon as the gates opened. Although snow had fallen earlier in the afternoon, her music cut through the chill and started off her REZZ Rocks debut piping hot. Her deep, rhythmic electro beats sizzled in the crisp air, leaving no question of her growing success as a local DJ in Denver. Not only has she headlined Temple Nightclub in Denver, but she has also supported many prestigious artists, such as Benny Benassi and Green Velvet.

EDDIE

A dark, entrancing bass flooded the venue as EDDIE took over the decks next. He satisfied thirsty bass heads with his captivating hit, “Still Healing,” then unleashed one heavy hitter after another. His sound was hypnotizing and kept the crowd going wild! Talented Australian DJ EDDIE debuted on the mau5trap label in 2017, releasing tracks with artists like ATLiens(Closer) and REZZ (Time, Stress). “Still Healing” has amassed over one million views on YouTube and nearly four million plays on Spotify. No wonder we couldn’t resist his sound!

Mary Droppinz

Mary Droppinz followed, taking us to the sweeter side of the spooky season with breakbeat electro, techno, and house. Purple lights mellowed the stage while she led us on a booty-shaking adventure. Her groovy, eclectic style filled our good vibe cups to the top. Mary Droppinz, hailing from Nebraska, is touring across the U.S. to the best parties around. You can catch her in Denver at The Church Nightclub on New Year’s Eve and EDC Las Vegas in May!

EAZYBAKED

Then, DJ duo EAZYBAKED appeared and brought weird, wonderful wubs for all the wooks. As their REZZ Rocks debut, this proved to be a special set. I couldn’t hold back my “bass face” as deep, organic music flowed from the hands of these bass masters. Seeing as they have track collaborations with Of The Trees and G-Space, it’s clear they’re on a fast track to success. Just in the last six months, Florida-based EAZYBAKED has headlined shows in several states, as well as supporting artists like GRiZ, Sullivan King, and Ganja White Night!

Wreckno

Wreckno graced the mainstage next with show-stopping entertainment. We were dazzled with a fabulous choreographed introduction featuring Wreckno and incredibly talented dancers. To our pleasure, Yvie Oddly made a guest appearance to perform an amazing rap/DJ’ing duet! We loved this high-energy set loaded with Wreckno’s signature combination of DJ’ing, bass, and rapping. This Michigan-born star is currently on tour across the country and has proven his talent at large festivals like Lollapalooza and Electric Zoo!

REZZ

Finally, REZZ took her place on stage, and we were gushing with excitement. Eerie, unearthly music began as the stage came to life like a real horror movie. Unsettled but unable to avert our eyes, we watched as REZZ and her production team swept us from REZZ Rocks into another dimension. The shackles of our reality were broken as we were plunged into the tantalizing visual and audio experience of Nightmare on REZZ Street.

Haunting characters and nightmarish scenes led us through this spectral journey. With REZZ guiding at the helm, her hypnotic bass and mesmerizing beats created a truly immersive event. Her impeccable talent was on full display, incorporating her newest release, “Nightmare On REZZ Street 2,” as well as tracks like Selector, Flying Octopus, and Puzzle Box– just to name a few.

REZZ has gained popularity worldwide for her otherworldly sound and supernatural-like concert experiences. She recently launched a new record label, HypnoVizion, with Nightmare on REZZ Street 2 Mix as its release debut.

We’ll see you in our dreams

Night one of REZZ Rocks came to an end, but not before REZZ played some of her most requested songs to appease her fans- what a treasure. Photos and videos don’t always capture the full essence of a concert, so we will be reliving this Nightmare on REZZ street in our dreams long after everyone travels home.

Flume Returns to Red Rocks After 2 Years

“Hi This is Flume”

Harley Streten also known as Flume is a 30-year-old artist from Australia that quickly made a name for himself. Old hits from 2012 like his Tennis Court remix, You and Me, and Drop the Game made him a household name in the EDM community. Harley then went on to release his album Skin in 2016, where he then headlined his first red rocks show. In 2019, he released his “Hi This is Flume” mixtape. Flash forward to May 2022, he releases his newest album, Palaces which is the focus of his current tour.

Opening Support

The second night of the red rocks shows brought in a different crowd than the other two shows, mainly because of the openers! The openers were OKLOU, Shlohmo, and Eprom. This night’s openers were a bit darker and more on the experimental side but turned out to be perfect for the show’s vibe. OKLOU brought some futuristic sounds and had great vocals. Shlohmo came with a deep, synthy set. And, of course, Eprom shook the crowd with his heavy-hitting experimental bass and even brought his son out to jam with him!

The Show

There were many speculations about what to expect for this show considering fans were caught off guard by his 2019 Red Rocks performance in which Flume was seen smashing a computer with a sledgehammer. Despite last year’s oddities, this year’s show did not disappoint. Flume threw down an incredible mix of his older classics and newer music with a seamless flow. The musical range of the show was truly impressive, transitioning from dreamy songs like Sleepless to dark and experimental songs like Get U. The energy from the crowd was so high, with everyone screaming the words to the songs that they had been jamming out to since 2012. It was evident that Flume was also feeding off this energy. He also brought out vocalists Kai, LAUREL, and KUCKA to sing their songs live. These ladies all dominated the stage with their powerful performances and elevated the emotions portrayed by the songs they performed.

Production

The stage production this year was minimalistic but fit the style of the set perfectly. With carved arches that alternated between the sides of the stage during the set and long steps at the front of the stage, it gave true Palace vibes. The arches and steps would even light up with visuals spanning across the stage, coupled with visuals on the screen behind, creating many trippy yet beautiful moments.

Conclusion

Flume ended the show with a champagne toast and said that Denver always has the best crowd and best venue, Red Rocks. Flume had the time of his life on this stop of the Palaces tour, and so did the fans. Especially after having to miss out on this for two years, everyone was elated to finally be back on the rocks with Flume. Overall, it was an amazing experience, and we look forward to catching Flume again in the future.

Zeds Dead Set Hearts On Fire At The 8th Annual Deadrocks!

Zeds Dead Set Hearts On Fire At The 8th Annual Deadrocks!

This past weekend on July 2nd & 3rd of 2022 was the eighth annual Deadrocks at Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater in Morrison, CO. This incredible two-night event is produced by the iconic electronic duo, Zeds Dead, and happens every July since 2014. The boys were here this past weekend to not only celebrate the return of this annual event but to showcase many up-and-coming artists.

Location, Layout, and Production

Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater is located in Morrison, CO which is only 20 minutes outside of Denver. This unique venue has been a major bucket list item for many past and present artists. Red Rocks has four spacious parking lots along with an accessibility shuttle to take patrons to row 1 for events. Once inside, you’ll be able to experience the beauty of the rocks, the views of the city, and the stunning stage production. The stage consisted of many speakers to carry the sound, large LED boards to show visuals, lots of lasers, and some projections that shined onto the rocks.

Food and Drink

Concession stands with food and drink options are located throughout the amphitheater. Food options include chicken fingers, hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, pretzels, pizza, candy, and chips. For drinks, attendees have options for draft and canned beers, wine, margaritas, Coke products, Red Bull, iced tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and water are also available. There are also many vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options available. To learn more about specialty food and drink, you can click here to go to their website.

Line up

Deadrocks had a stacked lineup with many extraordinary artists that come from a wide variety of backgrounds. The following artists are highlighted on Deadbeats, Zeds Dead’s very own record label.

Night 1: HEYZ, A Hundred Drums, DNMO, Hybrid Minds, Mersiv, and Zeds Dead

Night 2: Brux, SuperAve., Kumarion, IMANU, Blanke, and Zeds Dead

The weekend featured a mixture of EDM genres. Attendees were able to enjoy the sounds of bass, dubstep, downtime, psytrance, drum & bass, house, and surrealist club-pop. All of these artists were truly incredible to see perform live. I would highly recommend following them on socials as well as grabbing a ticket to their next show.

Zeds Dead fans got to feel a sense of euphoria during the boys’ set on both nights. The duo played so many tracks that fans have been “chasing” for years. Some of these recognizable tracks included Zeds Dead’s remix of Kiss by Jeuce, No Prayers with Omar LinX, Shut Up & Sing by Greta Svabo Bech (ZD Remix), Flickers by Son Lux (ZD Remix) and many more. Zeds Dead also showcased tracks that collabed with other fellow EDM artists like Subtronics, Peekaboo, Griz, Jauz, Blunts & Blondes, Rezz, and others.

Luckily for fans, the fun just didn’t stop there. Zeds Dead also held their Backyard Jamboree on July 4th which took place at the Civic Center Park located in Downtown Denver and played two more sets that same night for their Deadrocks Hangover show at Mission Ballroom also located in Denver.

Conclusion

Deadrocks is a very special weekend and I would 100% recommend going to anyone who is interested. This was my first Deadrocks and it definitely will not be the last time I attend this event.

Be sure to follow all of Zeds Dead socials for the latest updates and you can check out their website to check out their merch, upcoming tour dates, latest releases, and more!

Sublime With Rome Returns To Red Rocks

Sublime With Rome Returns To Red Rocks

Many music listeners that favor reggae-rock and ska-punk have heard of the band called Sublime, formed in 1988. This group is still known for some of their timeless songs including “What I Got” and “Santeria“. In the year 1996, the band suffered the death of their lead singer, Bradley Nowell.

2010 brought the rebirth of the group. This time, with Rome Ramirez, a singer and instrumentalist on lead vocals. Rome was also a fan of Sublime and had been looking up to the group for some time. This led to Sublime With Rome.

The collaboration between Eric Wilson (Sublime) and Rome Ramirez has kept reggae-rock alive ever since. In 2011, they released their debut album, Yours Truly, as a new-group title. Since then, they have completed multiple tours and performed at various festivals across North America.

Red Rocks For The Win

On Saturday, April 30th, Sublime With Rome finally returned to Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado. It has been a few years since the band had performed in Colorado, but boy, it was worth the wait. Red Rocks has a capacity of over 9,500 people and by the time the show started, almost everyone was already in the venue. Those that arrived at 7pm (when the music started) were able to snag some of the very last parking spots both before waiting in line for entry.

Katastro

Katastro opened up the night by welcoming patrons into the venue with their upbeat music. This Arizona-based group plays multiple genres of music including hip-hop, rock, jazz, and more. Throughout their energetic set, they played new music along with crowd favorites like “The Way I Feel” and “Flow“. The lead singer had a wonderful stage presence, interacting with the crowd and engaging everyone to sing and dance along.

GZA

After a 30-minute intermission, GZA and his band, complete with an electric violin, were next to take the stage. Ramsey Jones introduced the band, who would be helping to perform the “Liquid Swords” set. By this point in time, everyone coming back from grabbing drinks and snacks by the visitor center was returning to their seats. As it turns out, GZA is actually a founding member of the Wu-Tang Clan.

As a result, this set was much more hip-hop sounding than Katastro‘s. This didn’t stop the crowd from throwing their W’s up and singing along to various tracks. At one point, GZA stopped to take in everything, noting how the last time he was at Red Rocks was with Wu-Tang Clan and The Colorado Symphony.

Sublime With Rome

The anticipation in the venue began to rise during another 30-minute intermission before Sublime With Rome started their set. Reggae rock filled the absolutely packed amphitheatre. The band’s stage setup seemed fairly simple at first glance. However, standing light bars were placed throughout the stage and a geometric pattern of overhead lights lit up above them. There were also projections playing down onto the stage and rocks behind them. This transformed the concrete floor and rocks to show visuals of eyes, mushrooms, smiling mouths, roses, disco balls, and more.

Sublime With Rome played a healthy mix of originals, such as “Blackout“, and classic Sublime tracks including “Wrong Way” and “Smoke Two Joints“. They even played a new song that they’ve never played in Colorado before. Towards the beginning of their set, Rome brought his son out on stage and explained that they were on tour with their families, best friends, and dogs. What a fun summer! Later on, Rome made an announcement that they had a special guest. The one and only HR made a special appearance. This reggae legend has been a huge inspiration for the reggae-rock genre of music.

About an hour and a half into their set, the lights dimmed and Sublime With Rome left the stage. In general, during the break before an encore, people will generally start leaving. However, for this set, nobody budged. During the encore, Rome told a story about how he and his brother watched the recorded Incubus Red Rocks show a bunch when they were kids, and he’s always dreamed of playing this venue. Now, they’re playing Red Rocks and also touring with Incubus this fall.

The grand finale consisted of Sublime classics including “What I Got” and “Santeria“. In fact, the entire crowd singing along to “Santeria” could be heard all the way from the Lower South parking lot!

Until Next Time

From start to finish, Sublime With Rome was an absolutely amazing set to watch. Families and friends gathered from far and wide to come together over music in one of the most beautiful venues in the world. Each band had uplifting, contagious energy that could be felt throughout the entire crowd.

Reggae-rock is alive and well in the state of Colorado, and this night proved just that. Keep up with Sublime With Rome below!
