Sammy Virji Civic Center Park 2025

On September 13th, U.K. garage hitmaker Sammy Virji took the stage at Denver’s Civic Center Park one week ahead of the release of his new album, Same Day Cleaning.

The globe-trotting DJ and producer’s infectious energy and beloved anthems transformed the lawn into an all-out dance party. The event felt like a celebration of UKG’s resurgence in the U.S., all thanks to recent trailblazers of the genre like Virji and his collaborators.

An International Affair

This event brought three London-based artists out to Denver’s Civic Center Park. Surusinghe and DJ Boring were on support duties, and both dished out high-energy hard house and speed garage to get the crowd moving.

Australian producer DJ Boring (real name Tristan Hallis) played a particularly expansive set. He ranged from tech house to baile funk, all the way to UK dubstep with the heavy hitter “Beastmode” by Epoch. His set served as the perfect transition from daylight to dark hours. The stage lighting announced itself just in time for his epic closer with a remix of Deadmau5’s iconic track “Strobe.”

Sammy Virji Returns to the Bass Capital

This performance was Virji’s second trip to Denver’s Civic Center, following his 2024 Boiler Room play at The Greek Theater. Virji is certainly well loved in Denver. The city’s self-proclaimed status as the Bass Capital of the U.S. means that locals have an ardent love for bass-heavy British exports like dubstep, drum and bass, and U.K. garage.

Sammy Virji has been one of the most prolific garage hitmakers in this decade, and this performance showcased his best tracks. He opened the set with his major release from earlier this year: “Cops & Robbers” with legendary grime MC Skepta. The crowd’s reaction was immediate, and the dance party was underway. Virji dished out his hits to an impressive backdrop, featuring spiraling projections on the Denver City Council building.

His set included both of his collaborations with Chris Lake: “Summertime Blues” from 2024 and “925,” a recent single from his forthcoming album. While the energy of this night was fast and pulsing, he even included the occasional halftime breakdown (much to the delight of Colorado’s many dubstep fans).

Overall, the set displayed not only his masterful productions but also his skills on the decks. Virji served up tasteful blends like a mashup of his track “I Guess We’re Not The Same” with Cavi’s “F The Disco.” He closed with “If U Need It,” one of his breakout tracks from 2023 that has amassed over 100 million streams. Its catchy, vocal-driven melodies encapsulated the energy of the whole show: uplifting, carefree, exhilarating.

Same Day Cleaning

After the headline performance, the party didn’t stop as UKG nights took place at venues all across Denver. Sammy Virji even appeared at Club Vinyl for a surprise B2B with DJ Boring and 33 Below (who will appear on the new album).

Same Day Cleaning is scheduled for release on September 19th. The tracklist boasts an impressive number of notable MCs and collaborators, from MJ Cole to Flowdan. It’s a safe bet that this album will unleash more Virji hits into the world, and Denver will be ready to dance to them all over again upon his return!
