By now, Sacred Dance is something of an institution. Bad Asstronauts has teamed up with Opulent Temple on the Denver edition for years, building a local fan base that looks forward to each annual installment. If you haven’t been, prepare to experience it for yourself at Tracks on May 9th.
Bad Asstronauts and Opulent Temple — both Burning Man theme camps — have enlisted none other than Jackie Hollander to headline the outing. But that’s not all. Opulent Temple mainstays DJ ICON and Just B will be holding down selector duties, as will Bad Asstronauts residents DUGAN, ElectroFl, DONN13, and Sonny Jack. Even local legend Chris Irvin of Paradisco fame is billed for the occasion.
But as with anything Burner adjacent, the performing artists are only part of the magic. Based in the Bay Area, Opulent Temple leads with intention whenever they organize a gathering.
Sacred Dance’s roots extend back to Opulent Temple’s 2003 Burning Man debut; the same year marked its first-ever white party on playa. To this day, Burners continue the tradition by donning all-white attire on Wednesdays. Nowadays, Sacred Dance touches down in cities like San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, and New York City, always to raise funds for the camp’s dusty ambitions.
Those planning to attend on May 9th ought to take it a step further than simply wearing white. Creativity is key. Picture your highest self, and concoct an outfit that projects these qualities outward with flamboyant whimsy.
No matter what you do, don’t miss out on Bad Asstronauts and Opulent Temple’s Denver iteration of Sacred Dance. Get your tickets, tell all your friends, and let’s make memories that last a lifetime.
