Big Gigantic Red Rocks RowdyTown

Have you ever heard of a group that has put on shows at Red Rocks for 14 years? Well, Big Gigantic (real names Dominic Lalli and Jeremy Salken) have done exactly that. This year, they even brought a new stage along with several surprise guest performers.

It was a night not to miss. In addition to it being the 14th edition of RowdyTown, this one was extra special because it was the 10-year anniversary of their album Brighter Future. The effort changed everything for them. It was a big part of why they’ve been able to make this production so big and bright over the years.

Bringing the Funk Back to Red Rocks

Drew Birch opened up with some hip-hop beats, really setting the tone for what the crowd was in for that night. Then, Big Gigantic delivered their Bring The Funk Back set with a full live band, complete with all the quirky and offbeat sounds. This set was extra special because of the live trombone and trumpet.

That was just the warm-up for the groovy sounds that kept the crowd warm all night. The Funk Hunters brought out all the funky beats and even threw it back a bit with some classic remixes.

Lighting up the Rocks with a Brighter Future

For the main event, Big Gigantic came out for their second set with syncopated rhythms that had the masses moving their feet and wiggling their bodies. The boys had requested everyone to dress like it was the ’70s, and the crowd did not disappoint. There were disco balls everywhere, and people dressed like they just walked out of the decade.

Given that Big Gigantic is local to Boulder, Colorado, they knew they were going to have to really wow their local community this year. Their stage had a large platform for all the performers to move around and have a space to get down. The screens were insane; they took over the whole stage, which allowed the production team to put different images at different angles to give everyone a unique view.

Big Gigantic also brought out numerous special guests. Smoakland made an appearance, and they brought ROZES to sing live for “All of Me.” They had surprises left and right, pulling out The Funk Hunters to play their collab.

This night was special for everyone in attendance, from the performers having their families there to the audience making new friends and fond memories that’ll last a lifetime. It’ll be interesting to see how Big Gigantic manages to top this in the future.
