Australian punk pop-rock royalty The Veronicas are heading out on the Gothic Summer Tour in 2024, and Colorado was fortunate to score a date. The identical twin sisters Lisa and Jessica (Jess) Origliasso are celebrating two decades together as a band this year.

The ambitious Aussies remain hard at work and are releasing their sixth album Gothic Summer this year. If the singles they’ve dropped from the forthcoming record are any indication, it’s gonna be a banger! You can catch the action at their Denver show at the Summit on Wednesday, April 10th.

So, Like, Which One is Veronica?!

After beginning their musical career with the very literal moniker “The Twins,” Lisa and Jess wanted a fresh start when selecting a new band name. “One day we saw the movie Heathers, and there’s a line where Christian Slater asks, ‘Are you a Heather?’ and Winona Ryder’s character answers, ‘No, I’m a Veronica,’ and so we went with that because she was this kind of cool, unique chick with an attitude,” Jess once said.

Making a splash on the scene in 2005 with their debut record The Secret Life Of…, The Veronicas have achieved international accolades.

Smash single “4ever” was featured on the film and soundtrack for She’s The Man. The pair also guest starred on The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, performing their song “Cry”. Later, they would have a mini-series on MTV, The Veronicas: Blood Is for Life in 2019. It was broadcast in Australia and shown in the U.S., U.K., and Europe, where the duo are wildly popular.

Their track “Untouched,” from their second album, Hook Me Up, reached number one on the charts in Ireland. The song was also certified Platinum in the U.S.

There was a six-year lapse between the release of their self-titled album in 2015 and that of their next record. Fans had to get by with a couple of singles as a lot happened in Jess and Lisa’s personal lives. They worked through a tumultuous change in labels, dealt with the tragic loss of their mother, endured the COVID lockdown, and explored solo musical endeavors.

After getting things back on track, The Veronicas gave fans a double dose of ditties. The tandem released two albums in 2021. First came Godzilla in May, with an upbeat ’80s electro-pop sensibility. Human came out in June and revealed a more personal, emotional sound. They toured the dichotomous albums on the Godzilla vs. Human tour throughout the following two years.

What’s Next for The Veronicas?

After two decades of baring their souls — and more — through their musical and advertising endorsement endeavors, The Veronicas are ready to dance! Blazing their way into 2024, the pair are back on the road and bringing new music to fans.

They’ve already released three high-energy singles off the forthcoming album Gothic Summer. Supporting their latest music, the twins are also embarking on a tour of the same name. Springtime sees them in the U.S., and the pair will head to the U.K. for summer festival dates.

Preparing fans for the launch, they released “Perfect” and “Detox” in late 2023. The catchy, danceable cuts are reminiscent of early Veronicas works.

The duo also released the high-energy track “Here To Dance” in 2024. The instant earworm will grab you out of your seat and get you on the dance floor, grooving to the beat. In a recent interview with Australian media outlet The Project, Jess and Lisa dished what it was like working with Travis Barker for a song on the upcoming album. They’re also collaborating with John Feldmann from Goldfinger on another tune for the record.

Get Ready to Get Moving!

Joining The Veronicas on their upcoming tour is Jesse Jo Stark. She mixes light and dark themes into her catchy tunes. The variety of genres represented on her debut LP, DOOMED, make her a perfect selection as the opener. The melodic indie rocker is dating British pop sensation Yungblud.

If you’ve been holding off on getting tickets for their upcoming Summit show, now is the time! A recent Instagram post revealed that they’re selling fast. And I know there’s at least one less available spot since then, because I grabbed mine!
