Today, Dance Music (the sound that marginalized people created to escape an antagonizing social climate), is once again one of the world’s top musical genres. Yet ironically, black musicians and executives are, again, underrepresented in the genre. The entirety of the music platform that we play and dance today, was created and developed within the Black, and Queer, communities.
This Wednesday, KSTEELE w/ Party Guru Productions would like to celebrate the black, and queer, influencers and idols of house music, and pay homage with a night of remembrance, music, and culture. And there’s no better time than the month of Pride and Juneteenth. As we find ourselves amongst another political and social movement, it’s a gentle reminder that the black struggle, as a form of protest—served the roots of this dance music we listen to every day.
