Held annually in June in Scheeßel, Germany, Hurricane Festival attracts roughly 60,000 attendees each year. Since its debut year in 1999, this four-day event features various genres of music, most commonly rock and electronic music. To clarify, this festival is one of the oldest in Europe. Southside Festival was created as a spinoff from Hurricane Festival; it occurs at almost exactly the same time (one week before) and is held in Hildesheim.
