GOLDRUSH MUSIC FESTIVAL – A Wild West Renaissance The Desert Needed

Main Stage @ Goldrush

It’s been a long time since Arizona has seen an EDM festival of this magnitude. The most recent event resembling something on this scale being Decadence NYE 2019. Unfortunately, we all have had to endure seeing the world turn upside down and living through unprecedented and uncertain times since then. Thankfully, the sun always shines after the rain, and that sun finally shined brightly (literally and metaphorically) this past weekend at Rawhide Event Center.

For the first time, Goldrush Music Festival took over Arizona’s premier event center for three days from September 24-26th, 2021. Goldrush packed the house with top-notch stage production and dedicated EDM fans from all over the country. The festival’s creators were destined to make this the most unique and Arizonan event in the Southwest. It was complete in a Wild West town that will make you feel like you’ve turned back the clock to the 1800s. Also, included was a circus and rollerskating rink.

There was something for everyone, with artists ranging from experimental bass like Clozee on one end to techno legend Seth Troxler on the other. With three main stages, a local talent stage, a silent disco area, and an art car, the bass was definitely pounding from every corner of the festival grounds as the party continued on through the nights.

FRIDAY

The first night of the festival featured Illenium, who inspired the entire crowd to raise their hands in solidarity for “Nightlight” and sing-along to one of his most popular songs, “Crawl Out Of Love.” Earlier, Jauz and Kayzo took the stage. Jauz and Kayzo were tearing up the crowd with filthy sets of house, dubstep, and a dash of hardstyle.

Pioneer’s Peak, directly across from the Megastructure, was packed with bassheads headbanging and breaking rails to Tynan, Virtual Riot, and Svdden Death. For those that felt like the heavy bass wasn’t their cup of tea, just steps away was The Hideout, where Technasia and Camelphat graced the stage. Certainly, it was the spot where househeads could enjoy the hi-hats and snare drums.

Although, the festival officially ended at 2 a.m., there were festival-goers who wanted to continue dancing into the early hours. They were greeted with an after-party in the Rawhide warehouse. Which featured a special b2b set with Kayzo and Cray that lasted until 5 a.m.

SATURDAY

Night two brought near-perfect weather and a plethora of fire from all directions. Some consider Wax Motif b2b Chris Lorenzo to be the night’s first main attraction. Which was a rare set propelled by North America’s massive tech-house movement. Following shortly after, was a familiar sight for regular AZ festival attendees, as Troyboi took the stage. He performed his third consecutive Goldrush with a refreshed set that had the crowd vibing the entire time.

Back at Pioneer’s Peak, Kill The Noise and Getter brought window-shattering bass to the dance floor. While The Hideout crowd was grooving to French house sounds sponsored by Dombresky. Megastar Zedd closed up the night at The Golden Gorge. He performed some of his most iconic and sensational hits like “The Middle” and “Clarity”. For those who thought Zedd wouldn’t be able to satisfy their bass needs, Nghtmre at Pioneer Peak was dishing out some filthy dubstep that fans adored.

SUNDAY

Although, Sunday commenced with unusual rainy and dreary conditions for September weather in Arizona. Fortunately, the rain ceased just as the doors opened, and the puddles vanished as quickly as they appeared. Starting off the night at the main stage was Dabin. Dabin is an award-nominated music producer and instrumentalist hailing from Toronto. He is known for his melancholy “sad boi” songs and beautiful live performances. Shortly after was one of the most anticipated sets of the weekend by Zeds Dead b2b Griz. The trio went all out with a breathtaking and legendary set. Certainly, a set that fans will never forget, fully accompanied by lasers and pyrotechnics.

Pioneer’s Peak was packed with a freeform bass roster including Inzo, LSDream, and Clozee. Over at the house stage, Dirtybird stars Walker & Royce and legend Green Velvet kept the vibes immaculate to close out the weekend. Diplo, a nearly 20-year veteran of the electronic music industry, closed out a spectacular weekend on the main stage. Despite some rain causing technical issues in the beginning, Mad Decent don went on to put on a fantastic tech house-influenced set.

CONCLUSION

In the opinion of many Arizonan festivalgoers, Relentless Beats presented the best conceivable festival to return to in a post-covid era. After a 14-month period of cancellations and despair, Relentless Beats made a point of returning with a statement that would result in one of the best-produced large-scale events the Grand Canyon State has seen in recent years. From the words of Jason Euler, an experience creator behind Goldrush and other AZ events, “No one will be sleeping on AZ by the end of this year.”

GOLDRUSH MUSIC FESTIVAL – The Greatest Party in the Wild West Returns This September 24th-26th

The Long Await

It’s been quite the long wait for avid festival-goers in Arizona anticipating a return to the dance floor at Rawhide Event Center. After a 15-month hiatus of large-scale events, it seemed like Relentless Beats didn’t skip a beat (literally) when they unveiled their upgraded stage production when Chris Lake & Fisher. They debuted their Under Construction live show back on Memorial Day Weekend. Even with that inaugural performance kicking off a series of summer events at Rawhide filled with thrilling pent-up energy and joyous crowds, all of that pales in comparison to what’s about to come this September, and it’s definitely one fans won’t be disappointed with.

For the first time in two years, Goldrush Music Festival will return to Arizona complete with a stacked lineup and state-of-the-art production. This time around though, the festival will run for an entire three days for the first time in the event’s history. If you’re planning to go full throttle the entire weekend, we suggest preparing your body well!

Past Years

Goldrush premiered its introductory edition back in 2017, bringing a western-themed festival to the fitting arid Arizona landscape. Since then, the festival has become one of the state’s premier electronic dance music events. Bringing in star-studded lineups every year with artists like Illenium, Marshmello, and RL Grime headlining the bills.

For its 4th annual edition, Relentless is promising to bring the biggest lineup in Goldrush’s history. Through 3 action-packed days filled with some of the nation’s hottest headliners and up-and-coming acts. Expect stage production to be taken up a notch as well, as Rawhide has already begun bringing their summer series shows. Phase 1 lineup announcements will begin Monday, July 12th. Those will continue throughout the week. Definitely turn those post notifications through following their Instagram and other socials to stay updated!

Relentless Beats is also unveiling supplementary travel packages available for festival-goers from town or for those traveling from other parts of the country. For as little as $100 down, these packages come with a festival ticket along with a three-night hotel stay, expedited entry to the fest, three well drinks, and access to the all-new travel saloon. Which is an exclusive experience where fans can kick back at its cooling stations, bars, and private bathrooms.

Three-day passes are currently on sale and are available through Relentless Beats’ site. Now is the chance to not miss out on the biggest lineup and production Goldrush has ever put together. It’ll be a weekend you’ll be thinking and talking about for years to come. Buckle your belts and giddy up!

A Throwback to Gem and Jam Festival

Hosting headlining acts such as Tipper, Big Gigantic, The Floozies, Twiddle, Billy Strings and more. Featuring artists such as Aaron Brooks as well as many others, there were all forms of art, which was absolutely beautiful. Taking place January 31st- February 2nd in Tucson Arizona during their gem conventions the weather was absolutely beautiful. In the city of Tucson during these couple months the city gathers crystal lovers from all around to sell, trade and buy crystals. During all the conventions they host a music festival for all, yes it was family friendly! From three different stages to choose from the variety of music was refreshing and new.

Beginning night one with Tipper as the headliner, he showed us a blackout set. All the lights were turned off besides the LED behind him. This made for a unique first night headliner. Opened up by Manic Focus and Dirtwire then followed by Mersiv, Mystic Grizzly, Tenth Mountain Division and many others this first night was stacked. Moving into the second day we had even more great artists to follow. Big Gigantic showed us a few new songs of their new album, Free Your Mind, which at the time was not yet released, as they headlined the night. Opened up also by The Floozies, Desert Heart TAKEOVER, Buku, SoDown and many others night two was insane. All three nights had a few late night sets letting the music go all through the night. Finally we have night three, which was featured by Twiddle. Billy Strings, Micheal Menert and more. All in all this was a great festival. A good start to the year before everything was put on pause.

This festival was truly one in its own. Every performance was completely original. Every artist had such a unique sound. The staff were great, the venue was beautiful, the food was delicious and the music was even banging. Balkan Bump, photo above, even showed us all an absolutely insane time. Later in the night going on to be a special guest with Big Gigantic he showed non stop performance all day. Above is a photo gallery from all nights at the festival from this year. This truly is a festival for all. If you love gems, music, and a good time this is the place for you.

Decadence Arizona: New Year’s Eve

Decadence Arizona is one of the biggest parties on New Year’s Eve across the nation. It is hosted by Relentless Beats and is held at the Rawhide Event Center in Chandler, AZ. It is the perfect way to bring in the new year surrounded by friends and some of the hottest DJs right now. This two day festival was full of fantastic artists including Illenium, G Jones, Galantis, Dillion Francis, Zeds Dead and some great mashups like Dab The Sky and Griztronics. Plenty of local talent was performing as well, including Blossom and Storytime. This was my second year attending this celebratory festival and I was excited to see what changes were being made for this year.

Decadence Arizona 2019

This year’s experience exceeded expectations. Relentless really stepped up their game to make this festival very enjoyable while being realistic. I was very happy with the layout, the lineup, and the crowd. Every aspect of this festival was very well done. There were three stages, plenty of hangout spots, and the compact layout kept everything within walking distance so you didn’t miss any music. There were also heaters galore to keep you toasty while taking a break from dancing.

The Relentless Beats Rangers were also on standby all night. They greeted you at the gate with a high five and were ready to answer any questions about the show. They were there to support and guide you with whatever you may need. Everyone was very welcoming and it was comforting to know that you were in a judgment-free zone so you could be yourself.

Vendors of all types were ready and eager to provide any party favors, including chicken tenders, burgers and even desserts like funnel cake and fresh-baked cookies to satisfy your sweet tooth. Water stations around the venue were easily accessible to keep you hydrated all night. A huge merchandise booth was readily available so you were able to represent and support your favorite artist that was playing during the festival. There were also a lot of vendors selling giant hand fans, pashminas, and even homemade perlers. It was great to see some local businesses get to be a part of this experience.

New Year, New Memories

Everything at Decadence Arizona was really positive. The vibes, the crowd, and the music were so enticing. It’s events like this that remind you why you started going to shows and the great community that you’re apart of. Decadence is a great way to make new memories while manifesting everything you want to do for the new year. If you have never been before I would highly recommend going for 2020 and bringing your friends along with you. Relentless Beats will keep outdoing themselves and you’re not going to want to miss out on this amazing experience.

Make sure to keep an eye out on their Twitter and YouTube page for further announcements and an exclusive after-movie video of this year’s festival.

Decadence AZ Phase 2

This New Year just landed a huge upgrade with fresh additions to the year’s greatest party. Relentless Beats and Global Dance have outdone themselves again, bringing in the hottest talent alive to make the experience as wild and fantastic as humanly possible.

New Additions

We now get to look forward to an unforgettable night with Griztronics, a special collaboration between Subtronics and Griz. With this special back-to-back, we can expect a twist from Griz back to his Dubstep roots. Tag-teamed with Subtronics’ experimental low-end sound it should be a tasty treat.

That’s just the beginning to the new additions, we will also be welcoming to the stage EDM legends Zeds Dead to curate a ride full of intensity and emotion that few can deliver as gracefully as these two men.

The Swedish duo Christan Karlsson and Linus Eklow, otherwise known as Galantis, will also be joining the party.  Galantis explores a range of musical styles, from Techno to House with Pop and Jazz influences. For anyone who hasn’t seen them, it is hard to describe their sets as anything but fun! Last time I saw the duo I just couldn’t stop smiling; it’s just that kind of music.

Next on the list let’s talk about Joyryde. The name really does a great job summing up the vibe. If I were to be driving around some sweet stolen whips, you better believe I’d be bumping Joyryde.  As he says himself, “For best results, Install sub woofer in vehicle, Invite friends & Gas Pedal, Gas Pedal, Gas Pedal.” I have to agree and I’m looking forward to the ride.

Underground Artists

With so many new additions it’s difficult to give each artist the credit they deserve. I’m happy to see some recently underground musicians making their way to such a renowned platform as Decadence.  Artists like G-Jones who has been blowing up the scene with his Ineffable Truth tour this year. As well as Whipped Cream who is delightfully experimental with huge sound design that does not disappoint. If you are looking to hear something new be sure to check her out.  Space Jesus will be making his appearance, as well, to bless us with wonky Bass jams.

That’s not even the end of it, either! There’s so much more talent to be heard this December 30 and 31.  The full line up is listed below:

Decadence Founders

Decadence is brought to you by Relentless Beats. This company strives to provide its fans with the best overall experience. By opening up a public survey, show goers had their voices heard. Receiving an overwhelming response, much of which was a continuation of conversations with fans since the close of 2018, Relentless Beats has begun utilizing the feedback to create the best Decadence yet. Ways to improve the guest experience have already been implemented. These include increased flooring and dedicated walkways at and between the stages, additional entry and exit gates at the main stage, as well as a reconfigured and improved VIP experience, that will create better flow and shorter wait times, and increased chill stations and staffed water resources.

“As a company, it has always been our intent to improve Decadence year after year,” says Relentless Beats founder Thomas Turner. “I have read each comment, and I hear the fans loud and clear. Decadence will continue to grow, as will my team to make sure the fan experience is what people have come to expect from us.”
