Bigfoot Electro 2022

On May 26th-29th in Tracy City, Tennessee individuals from all over collectively came together to experience the second year of Bigfoot Electro! With numbers close to selling out, the festival still remained an intimate and relaxing setting for all ages to enjoy. Throughout the festival grounds were vibrant green trees and warm summer sun. This year’s festival brought us three incredible stages: Mainstage, Big Chillin, and Underground Sound! Plus the awesome renegade stages that were set up around the festival for nonstop bass. Mainstage is where Danley Sound Labs created their magic. Over at the Big Chillin stage is where Hennessey Sound Designs completely took over. Finally, leaving Headway HiFi x Allegro Audio to create an amazing sound for the Underground Sound stage.

However, what really sold this event was the number of incredible artists on the lineup! Artists like Ternion Sound, Pushloop, The Widdler, Dmvu, and Integrate started the weekend out right on Friday night. On Saturday, the immaculate vibes continued with artists like Flintwick, Late Night Radio, Tiedye Ky, Yheti, and KLL SMTH giving us all types of distorted bass. Supertask continued to break boundaries with his new and improved audio-visual set on Saturday night as well, bringing custom-made visuals and sounds to the people of Bigfoot Electro. Lastly, Sunday night kicked off with an incredible set from ToneVision, which included Virtuosick on the violin for their Side-Project collaboration. Progressing into the night, the weekend finished strong with Thought Process, Player Dave, Khiva, Mr. Bill, and Truth.

Art, Vendors, & More!

In addition to the incredible places to catch sets, live painters were also set up around the main stage showing off their talent while getting down to great music. As a result, it was a great chance for people to chat with artists and get an idea of what’s going on in their minds while they’re painting. The vendors made it easy to get lost in the beautiful art and the creations of others. There were a wide array of different art and food vendors to catch your eye. From Julen the Artist, Hippie Street Co., and Space Fruit, as well as many others.

Some of the other vendors that made this festival so wonderful included The Pizza Machine, which ran a donation-based food vendor at the festival, so even if you couldn’t contribute to festival food prices, you wouldn’t go hungry. Think of it as a pay what you have donation!

Moreover, Manifest Green, a collective of people that help keep the festival grounds a clean and trash-free environment was also a must-have for the festival. We are lucky to call Tracy City, TN our festival home for the weekend. What better way to show our gratitude than making sure we leave nothing but our footprints behind on this gorgeous property! For reference, the photo below shows the repurposed art installation that was created out of excess cans during the event! It was truly wonderful to see it all come together.

Going With The Flow

If you’re into flow arts of any sort, you did not want to miss out on the insane performers Bigfoot Electro had in store for us all! Catch yourself getting mesmerized by the beautiful flow of others while hearing a wide selection of music at the same time. Every stage gave you the opportunity to watch how beautiful the element of fire can truly be. What’s even more exciting is that the festival gave individuals the chance to try this out for themselves in a fire flow workshop. You could talk to trained professionals about all things pertaining fire flow and even learn new tricks!

After Hours

Meanwhile, when most sets came to an end, it was time to head over to the projection dome. The Aether immersive experience powered by Microdose VR continued to blow minds. If you were lucky, you could catch some of the secret sets going on inside with KLL SMTH, Thought Process, and others! On the other hand, you could head over to the late-night renegade stage by the pond for some late-night bass if you weren’t ready for the night to end.

There were many late night/early morning activities you could find yourself at. On Saturday at 6 am, the special guest, Toadface came on the Big Chillin stage for an early morning set. You could also explore the area that surrounded Bigfoot Electro and find yourself at an extravagant waterfall and view to take in. Later in the night, The Wheel gameshow hosted by Levitation Jones gave two artists the opportunity to play a 20-minute set at the festival if the wheel landed on their name.

Conclusion

Overall, the weekend was one for the books; there are many reasons to mark Bigfoot Electro on your calendar for next year. Above all, you will have a beautiful time with memories and people you’ll never forget. To keep up with all things Bigfoot Electro, check out the provided links below. Nevertheless, if the music scene isn’t exactly your thing, this location also offers zipline tours and camping throughout the season!

Snow Tha Product Revs Up The Energy At Mission Ballroom

Over the past decade, Snow Tha Product is a name that has reined supreme within the the hip-hop community. However, her rise to fame was no coincidence. From battle rapping locals to pushing her CD’s on street corners; Snow’s come-up is a true underdog story. She continues to prove that both consistency and hard work are key factors to success in any industry.

To begin, Snow faced adversity from an early age. Claudia Alexandra Feliciano was born to undocumented Mexican American Immigrants. Growing up in San Jose, California, she took full advantage of ESL classes that were at her disposal. She quickly became fluent in both English and Spanish, which would later set her apart as the bilingual hip-hop heavyweight she is today. Its no secret that Snow takes great pride in representing both her English and Spanish culture.

Snow Tha Activist

Snow tells it like it is. She is known to be unapologetically outspoken on real world issues both off and on the microphone. Her 2017 bilingual feature on, “Immigrants (We Get The Job Done)”, addresses the oppression immigrants endure while living in the US today. A snippet from her verse states, “Racists feed the belly of the beast with the pitchforks, rich chores done by the people that get ignored.” In addition to immigration and politics, Snow is an activist within the LGBTQ community. She openly discusses her bisexuality; encouraging her listeners to stay true to themselves, despite opposition they may face from others.

Dale Gas

Although Mission Ballroom fits a capacity of nearly 4,000 patrons, Snow is able to share an intimate setting with her Denver crowd. This performance is for the ride or die fans, the “Product Pushers”.

The surge of energy is tangible in Mission Ballroom the moment Snow steps on stage. She kicks off her headlining performance with the appropriately titled single, “Dale Gas” which was also the inspiration for the “Dale Gas” Tour title. Ironically enough, only a few moments into the track; the music comes to an abrupt stop. Something is off. Snow pauses her performance to address an audio issue concerning the sound levels on the main stage.

She commands the audio engineers to, “Turn up the music on these wedges!”. She explains that she has been on a 2.5-year hiatus from touring, so her fans deserve the best show from her possible. The sound quality was not up to par for the comeback tour Snow was anticipating. A few moments passed and the DJ spins “Dale Gas” back to its intro; returning with a newfound intensity. The sound is on point, the party has officially begun. Snow has all of Mission Ballroom peaking with a revamped excitement for her performance.

Block Party At Mission Ballroom

Snow carried on the party at Mission Ballroom with no reservations. She goes on to perform her chart topping hits, such as “Butter” and “Wassap”. The show’s momentum is in full swing and the crowds excitement cannot be contained. In a blink of an eye, the celebration soon overflowed onto the mainstage! Snow handpicked a group of lucky concert goers to join her and the Dale Gas crew for the remainder of the night.

At this point, the atmosphere of the venue feels like an all out block party with close friends and family. Snow Tha Product’s Dale Gas tour revs up the energy at Mission Ballroom. It’s difficult to determine where the crowd stops and the performers begin. Snow is engaging in conversation with the audience, stage dives into the crowd several times and even took a celebratory shot of tequila or two. A night that will not be forgotten in a hurry for the Denver “Product Pushers”.

John Summit Gave An Experience Of A Lifetime

John Summit Gave An Experience Of A Lifetime

It started in the deep end with the gloomy possibility that John Summit may have been stuck in Chicago. With the travel industry being so fluid, he had almost missed his chance to give everyone the time of their lives. From top to bottom the show was one for the ages at the Ogden Theatre.

Time was certainly not anyone’s focus as we waited for John Summit’s entrance. Flashback to when he first played Denver, it was three years ago for a much smaller crowd. This was before he became the Beatport/extended mix legend that is on the scene. In 2020 he had established residency at the #1 spot with Deep End.”This is still a staple to the 4.3 million active monthly listener’s catalogs as it embraces the best parts of Chicago’s scene, while it also holds a fresh take. This is someone that has a fantastic way of blending together songs.

The Opening To A Great Night

Alana English

Alana English got everyone in the mood early, as she was bringing it from the jump. It was hard not to find someone dancing as they walked into the venue. From spinning back-to-back heaters, it was impossible to deny how blessed you were to be there right off the jump. Everyone was looking around in straight bliss, and that was only the start of the evening. Seamlessly, Kyle Walker and Josh Fedz only continued the energy. The Ogden filled up within a blink of an eye, as everyone was anticipating where else the night would take us.

John Summit Arrives

Right off the jump, John Summit laid down the foundation of his performance. Constantly keeping everyone on their toes, while bringing back his rhythmic intentions. For someone that is of his age, he’s light years ahead of the curve. Without a care in the world, he brought fresh takes on his already classics.

Humanto Deep End” may have been the highlight of the whole evening, and we got a chance to hear completely fresh takes on both. Club staples from Deadbeats were getting mixed with Sofi Tukker who just crushed Denver themselves. John Summit is someone who exuded confidence and wanted to show why he will be around the scene for a while. Hours passed by and we still were wanting more. Ending the night on a high note with Dombresky, and Gorgon City, it was a shame that all good nights have to come to an end. Who knows what John Summit has in store for us all with his next mixes, but this all hints that he will have a residency on top of the charts with these soon-to-be-released mixes.

This will be a wild ride to look back on because the trajectory is pointing towards Red Rocks Amphitheatre or Mission Ballroom. This will be the year where John Summit establishes himself as a festival favorite, and anyone that can catch his shows on the way won’t regret it.

When Hip Hop’s Rick Ross And Fashion Meet

This Sunday hip hop rapper, Rick Ross & Friends + the Life of Fashion Show will be gracing Reelworks. Opening in 1945, the original company in the building was a tinsmith manufacturing facility. They specialized in steel and aluminum film reels for Hollywood. Fast forward to the 90’s, this building was known as Exdo Center. Originally, the owners were trying to get the neighborhood to be nicknamed “Exdo” for “Extended Downtown” but ultimately “Rino” was chosen.

The building remained Exdo Center until the pandemic, when all of the live event venues were shuttered. Fear not, for it was during the pandemic when the building was reborn again. With $250,000 in renovations, the building was refurbished to be able to host more music events. Now a sprawling 3-D projection mapping system and JBL sound system allow the newly named Reelworks to host all types of events, including hip hop events. All of these upgrades make Reelworks a perfect venue for this hip hop event.

Though, Denver is ready to have him back home. AP’s most recent album, “Big Homie 2” dropped last year so you know he is ready to bring his all to his performance. A Meazy is an advocate for mental health within the black community and uses his platform to preach self-care and self love. This message came across loud and clear in his album,“Protect Your Energy”, which dropped last year. He will be ready to keep spreading that message at the performance.

Also on the line-up is female hip hop rapper Mo-Luv. An independent artist, Mo-Luv is hitting the stage to prove that women can be rappers too. Her songs channel the struggles of living as a Black Woman in America, but also love and happiness. Last on the lineup is Tana 10 Birdz. He is also unsigned and is most known for his song, “Courtside.” His love for Denver is noticed in all of his songs and Denver will be ready to love him Sunday night.

Wale Drops Hip-Hop Flower Bombs In Denver

The Ogden Theatre is one of Colorado’s oldest venues. On February 6th, it hosted one of 2022’s hottest acts last night: Wale and his Under the Blue Moon Tour. Opening in 1919, the Ogden saw its share of vaudeville and even live showings of the Rocky Horror Picture Show when it was a movie theater in the ’80s. These days, thanks to a renovation in the ’90s, the Ogden hosts 150 shows annually, and it was Wale’s time to shine. This is Wale’s first tour since his most recent album “Forlarin II dropped, and his first tour since the pandemic.

The Openers

With a sold-out show, the evening opened up with some amazing locals, including Ave Grim and Trayce Chapman. First up, Ave Grim has been hard on the grind with his new EP, “Therapy Session” dropping March 18th. However, Ave Grimm was feeling the love. Instead of dropping some of his heavier hip-hop songs, he was dropping it slow, with sexy jams for all the ladies in the building.

Next up was Trayce Chapman. He was happy to be back performing both of his newest EPs, both of which dropped back in 2021. His songs brought the grit and hustle that hip-hop listeners love. Both of these artists are true Coloradoans, bringing that Mile High energy and love to their hip-hop that had the crowd jumping. By the end of their sets, the crowd had filled in and was vibing hard.

The Show goes on

Next on stage was Cam Wallace. Hailing from Houston, Texas, Wallace brings that Southern sound into his performance. A well versed- songwriter, producer and now recording artist, Cam Wallace puts his heart and soul into everything he does on stage. Cam Wallace lifted the energy in the venue even higher, dropping hard and fast verses. He definitely got the crowd hype and people were shouting along to his songs.

Next up was Guapdad 4000. Bringing that California vibe he grew up around, Guapdad 4000 came with the party songs and dance moves that had the crowd lit. He was extra hype because the last time he was in Colorado and performed here was actually at the Ogden, weeks before the initial venue shutdowns happened during the pandemic. The highlight of his set was when he Facetimed Thundercat and performed their song, “Dragonball Durag”. By the end of their song, the venue was completely full, and everyone was ready to keep the party going with Wale.

Wale came out on the stage and the crowd went wild. The Grammy Award winner had the most vibrant stage, with a recliner chair surrounded by the most colorful flowers. Performing a mix of his music old and new, everyone got to hear their favorite song. Wale also didn’t forget about the ladies. Singing some of his sexier tracks, including Lotus Flower Bomb,” Wale threw roses out to the ladies, who were already head over heels for him. Just because he was serenading the ladies doesn’t mean he left out the fellas either. He ended his set with his verse on Waka’s “No Hands that left the crowd hype.

Photos by: Idalis Richardson

All of these rappers brought their A-game to Denver, and the crowd was loving it. Continuing on the Under the Blue Moon tour, next up the boys are traveling to Seattle and then onward to California. Check out tour details here.

Sunsquabi Takes Over Mission Ballroom

Sunsquabi Takes Over Mission Ballroom

After finishing up their Midwest tour, Sunsquabi finishes off their run in CO. Hosting their final date at Denver’s very own, Mission Ballroom, they have a few surprises up their sleeves. From giving out signed posters with the purchase of a discounted ticket to having most of the proceeds go to the Boulder County fires, this is a very amped-up show. Let’s not forget about that insane lineup they are bringing with them. Party Guru was lucky enough to have a chat with the band before the big Denver show.

Check out everything they had to say below!

Finishing a Tour

Party Guru Press: Seeing that you all will be finishing up the midwest tour with a stop at Mission Ballroom, how will this set be different from the sets played before? What can attendees be on the lookout for?

SUNSQUABI: Our hometown shows will forever be like a benchmark of what’s next for us. We design this setlist and production just like a Red Rocks show, and it will be the culmination of all of the touring we’ve been doing lately + new songs from our album that will be coming out later this year.

Party Guru Press: Any surprises for the Denver show that you can tease us with?

SUNSQUABI: Well that wouldn’t be very much of a surprise then, would it now? The production for this show is probably bigger than anything we’ve ever done. I will say that.

For a Cause

Party Guru Press: Very great concept selling discounted tickets and giving away signed posters with ticket sales. You all also accepted non-perishable food items, where did the idea come from? Will we see any opportunities like this at the show on February 4th, such as signed posters or a bin for food item donation?

SUNSQUABI: We felt like we had to help in any way that we could after what happened in Boulder County. We will also be taking donations for Marshall Fire assistance at our merch booth at the show.

Party Guru Press: Dreamers Delight and The Funk Hunters will be support for this Mission Ballroom show, what made you choose those acts? Any other special guests that might not be on the lineup that will be there?

SUNSQUABI: Both Dreamers Delight and The Funk Hunters are some good friends that we have a lot of history with and we really wanted the vibe to be a homie vibe for this show. We have really been diving deep lately as a trio so we are excited to do a big show as just the 3 of us.

Party Guru Press: To get us all even more excited for Mission Ballroom, what is a sentence or two that you all would like to say about the upcoming show? Any changes in production for the upcoming Mission show?

SUNSQUABI: This show is a culmination of 2 years of planning and a lot of energy that we’ve all experienced together over the last 2 years. This show is a launchpad for us to a whole new level of shows and we love our fans so much!

Looking Ahead

Party Guru Press: Domefest was the latest festival announcement among a few, can we expect to see Sunsquabi at a good amount of festivals this 2022 season? Legend Valley is a very well-known venue, how will you all make that a special event for not only yourselves but attendees?

SUNSQUABI: We have a very strong connection with legend Valley in particular from festivals in the past like Resonance and The Werk Out. This summer will be a busy one for us with Electric Forest, High Sierra, and a ton more that are announced every day.

Party Guru Press: From a live recording at Red Rocks to the last album, fans love your pieces of vinyl. Can we be on the lookout for any repressings? If you all could repress one piece of work, which would it be? Your merch also FLYS off the shelves, can we be on the lookout for any new merch? Can fans purchase merch at the upcoming Mission show?

SUNSQUABI: I think we will probably do a re-issue of all of the old records, and we have a new album coming out this year so look out for lots more vinyl soon!

Party Guru Press: After a long tour can we expect to find you all in the studio, maybe working on something new? Or is that more of a time to relax and ground yourselves?

SUNSQUABI: We just finished a new album and we’re already started on the next one. Always writing and working.

Party Guru Press: With having over 4.6 million streams in 2021(Congratulations!) and being listened to in over 129 countries, where is the “dream performance” at? Has it already happened, if so where? What can Sunsquabi fans be on the lookout for in 2022? Anything you all have up your sleeve?

SUNSQUABI: We enjoy every single show so much that it’s hard to say. Red Rocks last year and this show at the Mission this year…every year gets better. We want to tour the whole world.

Party Guru Press: Would you all consider yourselves Party Gurus?

SUNSQUABI: We are just students yall are the Gurus, thank you so much!

Conclusion

After reading this we are nothing less than excited for the event. Bringing along an abundance of talent, we are in for a treat. Tickets are still available here, we hope to see you all there dancing under the disco ball!
