Sullivan King holds a pyrotechnic torch

An early announcement for the 2024 Red Rocks season brings Sullivan King and his signature brand of EDM to the iconic venue. Uniting dubstep and heavy metal fans, Sullivan King (real name Keaton Prescott) blends both seamlessly into his mixes. Coming to Colorado on Sunday, April 28th, Prescott will host his Reckless Rocks II reprise. Already on the bill with a live performance is metalcore group Left To Suffer with additional support yet to be announced.

Sullivan King brings EDM and heavy metal together for Reckless Rocks II coming April 2024 to Red Rocks

Prescott’s June 2022 inaugural Reckless Rocks gala included special guest Kai Wachi and a B2B throwdown by Ray Volpe and Grabbitz. That show treated fans to Prescott’s first-ever live acoustic performance on guitar. Joining him onstage for a special Father’s Day moment was his son Macallan, only a few months old at the time.

Treating Colorado to an indoor spectacular in 2023, The Mission Ballroom hosted the debut of the Thrones of Blood tour. That two-night run featured a monumental first night highlighted by a Sullivan King B2B Kai Wachi set. As both artists made magic onstage together, screen visuals and pyrotechnics illuminated the venue and awed the crowd.

Mind-Melting Metal Mixes

Growing up with rock influences from his father and brother, Prescott learned to play guitar as a teen. Guitar-driven classics like Van Halen and Metallica coupled with the newer screamo and metal acts like Atreyu and Avenged Sevenfold to build his musical foundation.

According to a feature on Insomniac, video games introduced Prescott to electronic music. That exposure to EDM giants like Skrillex and Rusko fostered a newfound love of dance music. With a penchant for both music styles, he attended the Sunset Strip Music Festival in 2012. It was there that Prescott got a glimpse of how those genres might come together onstage. Seeing infamous DJ Steve Aoki brought his diverse passions into focus. Within a couple of years, he debuted Sullivan King.

Smashing Genres Like a Guitar

With a speedy start to the Sullivan King persona, Prescott found success in the project’s first year. Releasing collaborations with Jauz and Ghastly, he reached over 2 million plays worldwide.

The Sullivan King style blends big bass drops with screaming guitar licks, tearing down stylistic walls and bridging musical gaps. Prescott has continued blurring the lines between genres as he teams up with stars from both dubstep and metal. He has released three LPs as well as a handful of EPs and a lengthy collection of singles. Many tracks include cameos or collaborations from rock and electronic music’s best and brightest.

Notable singles include 2017’s “Lockdown” with The Chainsmokers drummer Matt McGuire and featuring Sam King, and 2021 hit “Domination” with Kayzo and nu-metal rockers Papa Roach. Prescott has also released tracks with tour mates Kai Wachi, Ray Volpe, and Grabbitz, to name a few.

Building the Throne

Collabs define the latest Sullivan King record Thrones Of Blood, which lent its title to his recent tour. Prescott’s trademark chaotic-meets-calm soundscapes set the stage for the album. Nearly half of the record’s 13 tracks showcase other artists, lending a range of impressions to each. “Fall Apart” with Excision showcases the guitar prowess and big dub mixes for which Prescott’s fans go bonkers at shows. Demonstrating his haunting vocals and spatial mixes are the tracks “Someone Else,” released as a single in 2020, and “End Of Us”.

EDM and heavy metal artist Sullivan King sits atop a gothic throne in a desolate landscape

A pinnacle of heavier, metal-themed screams and guitar licks, the punishing tune “Die By My Hand” features Vastive and upcoming stagemates Left To Suffer. Hailing From Atlanta, Left To Suffer are a five-piece heavy metal group formed in 2019. No strangers to collaborations, they’ve worked with a slew of hardcore music heavyweights.

Are You Ready to Get Reckless?

The past year allowed Prescott to reach large audiences with headlining sets at festivals like Excision’s Lost Lands, and Dancefestopia in Kansas City — one of the first festivals he ever played. More recently, Prescott has taken the Reckless series on the road after Thrones of Blood tore across the nation in early 2023.

Whether you witnessed all three of his recent Denver area gigs or anticipate seeing your first Sullivan King show, Reckless Rocks II will be epic! Prepare to pop off by securing your tickets here before it’s too late! If you’re feeling fortunate, you can also enter to win a pair from Party Guru!
