Although spring weather in Denver tends to start a little cold and gray, those who rave in the Mile-High City know that concert season is already on fire — and this weekend was no exception. On Saturday, Colorado’s own SoDown (real name Ehren Wright) breathed life into the Mission Ballroom stop on his Colors of the Mind Tour.
This sold-out event featured SoDown’s signature saxophone riffs and a dazzling visual production It was markedly impacted by a vibrant supporting lineup.
A Colorful Experience
SoDown’s Colors of the Mind Tour was planned proper with exciting music. AG, Gardella, Josh Teed, and Koan Sound delivered a wide range of music that helped seal SoDown’s success.
To begin, AG kicked off the show and set the tone for the night with fiery dubstep. Tracks like “Wish You Could” and “Digital Delusion” are just a few of his well-known collabs that got the crowd dancing. Next, Gardella hit the decks with attitude and finesse. We loved his song “Boys,” a highlight that captured the energetic essence of his set. After Gardella, Josh Teed took the stage and brought a mind-blowing attribute to the show.
Teed played a violin while working the decks. He is a skilled musician who took us on a journey with ethereal instrumentals and soul-wrenching bass. His Prologue EP is the stuff that wooks dreams are made of. It was incredible to watch him work!
Concluding the supporting lineup was Koan Sound. Their remarkable mixing skills were a rare treat to see. Koan Sound delivered organic electronic music and took risks with transitions that paid off!
SoDown’s Colors of the Mind
SoDown’s set began with central staging and technicolor lasers before a screaming crowd. Much like those who preceded him, he put on a show that jolted us to the core.
He made his mark with dazzling lights and energy that made the experience top-tier. His velvety saxophone riffs with funky dubstep in his “Colors of the Mind” album delivered an unforgettable experience. Songs like “It Was All A Dream” and “Everybody GetDown” sent everyone into dancing fits. Not only that, but the lights and lasers that flashed across the stage added character to the show by painting the Mission Ballroom in rainbow colors. Simply put, SoDown’s newest album and stage show are a match made in heaven.
Overall, this concert was an incredible experience. It was tailored to include a variety of music ranging from low, wook-friendly bass to high-energy drum and bass. The interesting palette of artists combined with visually appealing light shows took this show to an extraordinary level.
