The force is strong with San Holo.
The quirky, vibrant DJ and producer will headline the illustrious Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Wednesday, October 11th on the heels of his forthcoming album, Existential Dance Music. More than just an album, Existential Dance Music is a music concept that redefines EDM and the community that surrounds it.
The Dutch-born San Holo (real name Sander van Dijck) is a raw, in-your-face type of musician, one who wears his heart on his sleeve. He expresses his emotions through music as words tend to elude him. He likes to get up close and personal with partygoers, sharing life’s ups and downs, beginnings and endings. Throughout this tour, he’ll do exactly that.
Initially, van Djick, started out remixing songs before producing his own originals. His first break came from reworking Dr. Dre’s “The Next Episode.” Released nine years ago, van Djick’s version is full of bass and trapped out in the most booty-shaking way. He turned an already banging song into a, dare I say, even better one. As a result, his track is still a mega hit and currently sits at 264 million views (and counting!) on YouTube.
Just like Midas, San Holo has the golden touch. Any remix or original song he makes turns into musical fire. His catalog of music details his trajectory from alt-rock to EDM and his evolution has been nothing short of inspiring. His recent release, “Bring Back the Color” featuring AURORA, is the first single off his EDM album and is proof of his hard work and reinvention.
This track encapsulates the San Holo sound. It’s a bright and sunny song whose haunting melody is laced with Norwegian songwriter AURORA’s exquisite vocals. Emotionally vibrant, “Bring Back the Color” brings hope for a new beginning, which seems to be a recurring theme for van Djick.
A night this special requires talent as exceptional as San Holo himself. Supporting him in this new endeavor are Whethan, William Black, Rome In Silver, and OddkidOut — the perfect additions to the show.
Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado is just the spot for San Holo to deliver a project of this magnitude. With its jaw-dropping, red-rocked landscape and idyllic acoustics, Red Rocks is a musician’s dream stage. Seating about 10,000 people, Red Rocks is ideal for San Holo as each performance still feels incredibly intimate. To him, everything is personal. Every song, every lyric, all music, is a moment from his life, a piece of him. Red Rocks is the quintessential location for all that.
Tickets for San Holo Presents: Existential Dance Music are on sale now. That’s to say, don’t have an existential crisis because you didn’t order your tickets to this one-of-a-kind show. Be sure to catch San Holo and his Existential Dance Music tour at Red Rocks on Wednesday, October 11th.
