Alaska’s premier destination festival is returning for its fourth year. From September 5th-7th, Sacred Acre Music Festival takes over Kenai Peninsula Fairgrounds in Ninilchik. The grassroots, immersive festival highlights Alaska through music, food, vendors, and education, with a team truly devoted to providing a quality event.
Behind the Scenes
Chris Miller and Hannah Stearns are the masterminds behind this event. Their mission for Sacred Acre is to create a welcoming space for everyone, one dedicated to celebrating art, music, community, and collective action.
By dedicated, I mean just that. EG Sound and Lighting, their primary stage production team, steamship their equipment in. This takes three days, and then it’s a four-hour drive to the fairgrounds. And this year, they’re having three full Void sound systems on site!
The duo strive to create awareness and activism, focusing their attention on trawling. This commercial fishing technique uses a dragged net to catch fish. As Sacred Acre takes place in Alaska, one of the largest fisheries of the U.S., it made sense to educate attendees on stopping the destruction of oceans and marine habitats.
Talent this year is on point. Headlining artists include TroyBoi, Jade Cicada, Emancipator, and Desert Dwellers. Alaskan talent include MEDUSO, MLOTIK, and Mantra Sounds.
Sacred Acre has partnered with Delta Airlines and Alaska Airlines to help alleviate flight costs. They’ve also secured deals on hotels, cars, RVs, and more. There’s onsite camping called the ARCHES. Situated near the main stage, it’s located in a wooded area that offers the full Sacred Acre experience. There’s RV camping, VIP camping, and many nearby state parks. The options are endless. In addition, attendees can purchase experiences, such as a Helicopter Tour and the Coldwater/Underwater Halibut Fishing. The Helicopter Tour allows you to see Alaska from above and all leave directly from the festival site. The Coldwater/Underwater Halibut Fishing is an educational adventure as you learn a sustainable way to fish.
