On August 30th, thousands of EDM fans poured into Red Rocks Amphitheatre to be transported into an otherworldly concert experience known as REZZ Rocks VI, headlined by Canadian-based producer REZZ (real name Isabelle Rezazadeh).
Featuring an all-women lineup for the first time, this event transcended the typical boundaries of an EDM show. As the mesmerizing beats echoed through the walls of the iconic venue, there were clear undertones that this night was about more than just music. It was a testament to the journey that REZZ and other women have taken toward success in this industry.
REZZ Rocks VI: The Experience
There’s nothing quite like seeing an EDM show at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in the middle of summer. Notably, REZZ Rocks VI took place earlier than in previous years, which was a pleasant change! Masses of ravers arrived dressed in their finest drip showed up early for the openers.
Mantra Sounds and Ninajirachi
Those who made it through security check-in enjoyed seeing Mantra Sounds (real name Giana Rifici) warm up the decks. Hailing from Pennsylvania, Rifici took dubstep beyond bass and wobbles with live vocals and rap. Although electronic music can tell a story with sound alone, there’s something special about pairing it with lyrics to emphasize the passion we all feel. ❤
Next to hit the stage was Ninajirachi (real name Nina Wilson). This fiery, Australia-based producer came out swinging with electronic pop that got the growing crowd on their feet. She gives off kawaii vibes, but don’t be fooled. Her clip was loaded and packed with tracks and remix heat! One in particular was a remix of “Strobe” blended with “Beauty and a Beat” that sent us into a nostalgic dancing tailspin.
Veil and Maddy O’Neal
As darkness slowly crept over REZZ Rocks VI, Veil brought the night with her when she began her set. Her deep, dark bass lines cast a shadow over the amphitheater that we didn’t want to escape. We were obsessed with her visuals, too! As an example, check out her track “Mentalics.” Veil is known for her sinister undertones and experimental style, as well as her self-owned record label, Street Ritual.
Up next, Denver-based Maddy O’Neal hit the decks with an upbeat tempo to paint REZZ Rocks VI in color. Her music hits many chords across the genre spectrum, giving off immaculate vibes along the way! She slings electronic funk and velvety bass so effortlessly that we couldn’t get enough. Remixes from The Rush EP as well as her track with Clozee, “Zest Please“, were absolute fire!
REZZ Headlines REZZ Rocks VI
Cheers erupted from every corner of the venue as REZZ took to her post on stage. “Can you see me?” was her opening track. Her talents shined as her production team breathed life into the stage behind her. Hypnotic, transcendental music swept us off our feet as we were plunged into an unearthly world.
Being that REZZ planned out a special two-hour set, she exceeded our expectations tenfold. Her performance touched tracks from her earliest releases with mau5trap records to her more recent songs, such as “Black Ice”. Her production team slayed the visuals for her set and added dimension that couldn’t be achieved any other way. The variations of her music across different albums and EP’s over the years were on full display. Personally, as a fan of REZZ since 2016 myself, it was amazing to see her pull all of her work together for this show. The evolution of her sound is undeniable and we can’t wait to see where her music takes her next.
Final Thoughts
Accordingly, it seems REZZ Rocks VI marks another notable point in REZZ’s career. Referring to a post she made on Facebook, she stated she “was told by the red rocks owners that I had been the first electronic women artist to ever headline red rocks (back in 2017).”
REZZ not only holds this incredible title, but she also is the founder of HypnoVizion Records. Moreover, she brought an all-ladies lineup! With her support for rising producers, as well as pushing the boundaries as a producer and label owner, it’s clear her impact on the EDM industry is substantial.
She opened REZZ Rocks VI with “Can you see me?“, and it couldn’t have been more fitting. Yes, we see you. The work and time put into the production of music and concerts, we see it. We hope she revels in the success of her work as much as we enjoyed seeing her showcase it all.
