I had an epiphany while visiting the Hot New Afters Spot, which is close to the Mission Ballroom and convenient to reach from venues around town. The event featured a backdrop of dope beats from The Sponges and The Funk Hunters that filled the dance-friendly space into the wee hours.
This got me thinking: Have after-parties become this generation’s version of a late-night campfire gathering?
Many of Saturday’s attendees came from the 2025 opening night at Red Rocks – The Return of Icelantic’s Winter On The Rocks featuring Gramatik. Some arrived there after different concerts around town, myself included. For others, this was their main event. Wherever they’d spent the evening — at a show, working, or chilling — this was the premier gathering spot to come warm up or cool off afterward.
OffThe Record is On The Money
The Off The Record After Hours was a well-executed event. The staff was fantastic, from helpful parking attendants and security to friendly entry personnel!

A mix of open space in front of the decks and seating around the edges of the back half of the floor gave patrons options. Earlier in the night, the back was full of fam and friend groups chatting and interacting. People continued to arrive, find their crew, and wind down after the night’s events as the hours dwindled.
Get the Funk Out!
The energy surged throughout the venue as The Funk Hunters took the decks by storm, igniting the room with vibey remixes of classic club anthems like Nelly’s “Hot in Here.” A killer “Smells Like Teen Spirit” redux had the entire dance floor singing along like it was 1995. Their headlining set felt more like a full-fledged concert than an afters, with the crowd fully locked in.
Hot on their heels, The Sponges wasted no time keeping the party alive, unleashing their signature fusion of funky baselines, disco-infused rhythms, and infectious energy. Their groovy selections had the crowd moving in sync, creating a dance floor that pulsed with pure, unfiltered joy. With each drop, they tightened their grip on the audience, ensuring the night remained an all-out celebration of movement and music.

The proverbial campfire embers were still burning when I took my leave around 4:00 AM. Something about getting to sleep before it got light out sounded appealing.
Whether you’re heading to the afters to reconnect with your crew, catch your fave DJs, or cut loose after a long night, your secrets are safe at Off The Record! Find your way to North Denver’s new late-night hot spot — it may not be a secret for too long!
