Denver dance music fans know there’s no other place to be on a Wednesday night other than Beacon in RiNo! This is because we here at Party Guru Productions have been putting on our Frequency Sound Series of events for an entire year at this iconic Denver club.
The event series celebrated its one-year anniversary on March 8th. Commemorating the occasion was a performance by The Sponges with local support from Britton Lee and a special guest closing set from Subset.

Beacon is one of Denver’s more captivating clubs. A dance bar created by artists, it was “designed with human connection in mind.” The club has a number of Instagram-friendly chill-out rooms. The entire venue, including the smoking patio, is decked out in themed art pieces, giving each space a unique vibe. It’s an intimate setting perfect for the tight-knit crowd that typically attends Frequency Sound Series.
Local favorite Britton Lee set the standard for the night with an opening set that featured a mix of various flavors of house. From dark to tropical to deep and back again, he flawlessly took the crowd through a musical journey to get them warmed up for the headline set.
Britton Lee was the logical choice to open up such a special night of dancing. Our fearless leader Mike Knopping was in the building celebrating his birthday along with the triumph of Party Guru Productions holding Wednesday night at Beacon down for an entire year! Britton played the very first Frequency Sound Sessions. We were proud to see him come full circle with this event.

The Sponges definitely got things popping. The dance floor quickly became crowded since everyone was stoked to hear them play. These artists are well known for their iconic disco house sets. For the uninitiated, disco house is a variety of house that either samples well-known disco melodies and combines them with house beats, or takes house tunes and combines them with a disco backline. The crowd was definitely a bit more on the mature side, so this was a good choice for the one-year anniversary!

Closing things off for the night was special guest Subset. Subset gets it, and he hails from Seattle, Washington. Well known for bringing the funk, he was an appropriate choice for the disco theme of the night. Overall, the funky beats were bumping, the crowd was feeling itself, and this party was an amazing night.
If you missed the one-year anniversary, not to worry! You can join us every Wednesday night at Beacon for Frequency Sound Series.
