This weekend, Fleetmac Wood returns to Meow Wolf Denver for a two-night takeover on Friday, May 16th & Saturday, May 17th as The Peplexiplex at Convergence Station plays host to an event called Leather & Lace Disco by the Fleetwood Mac-inspired dance music duo.
What, pray tell, does Leather & Lace Disco entail? It’s a special audiovisual show dedicated to all Fleetmac Wood’s adaptations of various Fleetwood Mac songs in various styles of electronic music. Since December of last year, they’ve taken it on tour to cities like Sydney, Berlin, Mexico City, Oslo, and Glasgow.
And The Peplexiplex, with its cathedral-like canopy of LED rectangles and finely tuned sound system, is the perfect setting for such an intentionally curated gathering. Memories are made within those walls. Leather & Lace Disco will be no exception, as everyone in attendance is sure to tell stories about the occasion for years to come.
Extravagant as the AV show may be, it is no tremendous departure for Fleetmac Wood. The pair comprised of Roxanne Roll (real name Lisa Jelliffe) and Smooth Sailing (real name Alex Oxley) have been reimagining the music of Fleetwood Mac since they launched their project in 2012.
The band itself is certainly deserving of such a devoted, ongoing tribute. Formed in 1967 by Peter Green, Mick Fleetwood, and John McVie, it came to include Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks during its mid-’70s breakthrough era. More than 50 years later, hit singles like “Rhiannon,” “The Chain,” and “Everywhere” maintain an enduring presence in the pop culture zeitgeist.
Meow Wolf started as an underground collective that hosted immersive art experiences in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 2008. It has since expanded to numerous markets, with the Denver branch — dubbed Convergence Station — having opened its doors to the public in 2021.
