After years of renovations that left Denver’s 16th Street mostly inaccessible, the city landmark is about to be back in a big way. FISHER is slated to perform at a grand reopening party on Monday, May 26th that will also mark the largest concert ever hosted there.
The celebration will cap off a $175 million revitalization of 16th street that has left the long stretch of Downtown Denver fenced off for years. FISHER is well suited for such a momentous occasion. Recent months have seen the Australian DJ and producer headline humongous block parties in Los Angeles and San Jose, drawing massive crowds to both locations.
FISHER’s 16 Street block party is a joint venture between the City of Denver, AEG Presents, and Downtown Denver Partnership. Also on the lineup are Odd Mob, Lauren Lane, and SIDEPIECE.
“Energic events like this concert accelerates downtown’s economic vitality, drawing fans and visitors to our center city,” Downtown Denver Partnership President and CEO Kourtny Garrett shared in a statement. “Activating downtown, especially on 16th Street, is fundamental to our mission of building a thriving urban core for all to enjoy.”
The event follows another high-profile house music gathering in a prominent Denver landmark. Earlier this month, Dom Dolla broke the attendance record for events at Civic Center Park when he played there. Both artists previously performed together at the LIV Golf Tournament in Adelaide, Australia, reportedly getting paid a combined $1.6 million.
