Detox Unit x Jade Cicada

Detox Unit and Jade Cicada are teaming up once again to bring something special to Denver! On August 9th and 10th, the two producers are hosting a two-night run at Mission Ballroom. Friday will feature a headline set from Detox Unit, while Saturday will feature Jade Cicada.

These two are famous for their curated events, in which they select world-renowned visual artists to accompany a musical lineup of close collaborators and friends. This Mission Ballroom run will mark a level up from the pair’s back-to-back headlining nights at the Fillmore Auditorium in December 2022.

Without a doubt, this one’s for the heads. If you’re a fan of glitch hop, neuro, or any brand of highly technical electronic production, now is the time to secure tickets!

Friday Night With Detox Unit

Detox Unit (real name Joe Roberts) is a beloved figure in this corner of the electronic music world. His iconic “Simon Says” remix is regularly heard at Denver shows, and he boasts many past performances at Tipper & Friends events.

On Friday night, Detox Unit’s headlining set will be preceded by a star-studded lineup: Schmoop, Vinja, Lone Drum, and Layer. All of these DJs are perfect to set the stage.

London-based Lone Drum is coming all the way from across the pond. Vinja will bring up the energy with his breaks and drum and bass. And Schmoop (also known as one half of Wonky Llama with Jade Cicada) is a killer selection for direct support.

It looks like Friday night will live up to the Detox Unit tagline: “Music for Sound Systems.”

Saturday Night With Jade Cicada

Skyler Golden, better known as Jade Cicada, is a Berklee-trained musician whose reputation is built on his intricate sound design. His 2023 LP Pressure Gamut was praised throughout the scene, and this show is a great opportunity for Denver to hear these tracks live.

Mickman, Aptic, Dendroid, and Ezra! will join Jade Cicada on Saturday, August 10th. They will each offer an excellent complement to Jade with their skilled electronic production. Fans are certainly happy to see Mickman on this one!

Jade Cicada’s last Mission Ballroom performance, a curated evening in December 2019, featured a massive visual screen and finely tuned sound. We can’t wait to see what he has in store for this year.

The Future of Detox Unit and Jade Cicada

Neither Detox Unit nor Jade Cicada are particularly active on social media, so it’s rare to hear what either of them have planned. Their close collaborator Mickman recently took to Instagram stories to discuss the upcoming Denver run, however.

Mickman told the public that this Mission Ballroom event would likely be one of the last times that this group of producers (Mickman, Schmoop, Detox Unit, Jade Cicada, and other associated acts) would come together to produce a curated event. It’s not the end for any of these projects, but they are focusing on solo work and other ventures.

So if you love these curated shows or want to experience them for the first time, now may be one of your last chances. Tickets are on sale now!
