The 10th anniversary of Icelantic’s Winter on the Rocks celebration kicked off this weekend at Red Rocks. Low temperature proved to be no issue for eager fans ready to join the party. Above all, the lineup for the evening was diverse and well-crafted, showcasing performances from Diplo, Sofi Tukker, Talib Kweli, DJ Matt Cassidy, and Jacoby. These artists were able to keep the crowd dancing enough to stay warm all night. Each set was different ranging everywhere from heavy bass bangers to soul-clinching singing and of course, plenty of dance music.

Icelantic’s Winter on the Rocks

Headlining for Icelantics Winter on the Rocks 10-year celebration was two well-known acts, Sofi Tukker and Diplo. Despite the two having differing sounds, playing one after the next insured an engaging crowd. In addition to cheetah print, there were also a lot of purple hats in the crowd as well. A reference to the hit song Purple Hat which Sofi Tukker pointed out as they began performing the popular track. If you are interested in Sofi Tukker, they have a new album coming. At the time of writing this article, the name of the album has yet to be revealed but fans can catch an early reveal by signing up to their mailing list.

Capping off the night was L.A. producer and founder of the Mad Decent record label, Diplo. Coupled with a great performance from Soffi Tukker, Diplo’s performance was the icing on the cake. His creative mix continuously blended between a deep and dark house aesthetic to a high-energy dance hall vibe. As a result, the mood of the evening’s sound remained entertaining. For those just getting into Diplo, be sure to check out his new song on Mad Decent Called Forget about me.
