The SoCal wildfires may largely be contained — but they’re still burning, and the aftermath is already staggering. FireAid to the rescue. The fledgling nonprofit organization aims to raise money for those affected by the blazes with two January 30th events at the Kia Forum and Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, with a veritable who’s who of superstars lending their musical chops to the cause.
The Intuit Dome event will be headlined by hot names like Billy Eilish, Peso Pluma, Jelly Roll, Lil Baby, Tate McRay, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Gracy Abrams and Olivia Rodrigo. The longtime staples slated to perform are Earth, Wind & Fire, Rod Stewart, Stevie Wonder and Sting.
Meanwhile, a more ’90s-coded lineup awaits attendees at Kia Forum, including Alanis Morissette, Dave Matthews, John Mayer, No Doubt, P!nk, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Green Day. Outliers of this common theme are Anderson. Paak, Stevie Nicks, Stephen Stills, Graham Nash, Joni Mitchell, Dawes and John Fogerty.
“Contributions made to FireAid in connection with the FireAid benefit concert and other direct donations will be distributed under the advisement of the Annenberg Foundation and will be distributed for short-term relief efforts and long-term initiatives to prevent future fire disasters throughout Southern California,” reads a description on the FireAid website. “The Annenberg Foundation, with decades of philanthropic leadership in our community, including rapid response, will help coordinate a team to direct funds for the greatest impact.”
FireAid is the brainchild of Shelly and Irving Azoff, as well as their families, with the help of AEG Presents and Live Nation. The entity is in the process of registering as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization but has not received its letter of determination from the IRS at the time of writing.
Those who can’t make it to either event can still donate to help fund fire relief via FireAid’s Stripe portal.
