One month before we close out 2023, the legendary bass music legend Bear Grillz will bring his face-melting beats to Mission Ballroom in Denver.
Bear Grillz has been DJing and producing since 2013. He made a name for himself by the beginning of 2016 when he had an artist transformation, revealing his true identity to two million Jerry Springer fans. This Denver-based DJ and producer has been ripping up the scene for the last decade with hits like “Demons” featuring RUNN, a melodic track which commanded respect for its blend of beautiful vocals and deep dark, grimy dubstep.
Bear Grillz has earned multiple Beatport #1’s. His work with with Getter on “EDM” as well as his single “Don’t Stop Getting It” featuring Bok Nero have made him a hard act to follow. He has such a U.K. gangsta flow that it’s hard not to bounce and be ready to throw your head and hands around during his sets.
His most recent tracks ”Red Alert” and “Blood” — on which he collaborated with Perry Wayne for the label Dubstep uNk — are simply for the hardcore. They hit so hard you think your brain might split in two. Meanwhile, his Up in Smoke EP has such a mellow, deep vibe that it feels like it pays homage to the green state in which Bear Grillz resides, and where he will soon perform.
In particular, the smooth, reggaeton vibes of “Smoke Up” take your on a journey. Ditto for the beautiful, melodic “Up in Smoke,” whose clear, crystalline, thoughtful vocals make you ponder all that is and isn’t with such a great showcase of musical diversity.
People have likened Bear Grillz mosh pits to one step away from a prison riot. Don’t miss this high-energy, face-melting artist on Friday, December 1st at Mission Ballroom. Tickets are available via AXS.
