AXS SecureMyPass

AXS is suing an online service called SecureMyPass, alleging that the company has enabled the sale of counterfeit AXS tickets on its platform.

The most recent such incident unfolded around Lorde’s October 2025 concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, according to the complaint. At least seven people were allegedly turned away at the entrance after presenting fake tickets purchased through SecureMyPass.

Previously, a would-be entrant at the LA Kings and Tampa Bay Lightning’s January 2025 Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles was allegedly able to scan in his ticket, but he got inside to find that it corresponded to nonexistent seats. And in October 2024, a customer was denied entry at the Greek Theatre, also in Los Angeles, for producing a counterfeit ticket, according to the lawsuit.

AXS tickets utilize dynamic barcodes that change frequently and make it impossible to transfer by screenshot, which prevents fraud by requiring buyers to transfer within its app. But SecureMyPass allegedly offers a browser add-on that allows ticket brokers to create replica tickets by recording their behavior on the AXS website.

The lawsuit seeks damages for seven different infractions: federal trademark counterfeiting, federal trademark infringement, federal false designation of origin and unfair competition, common law trademark infringement, common law false designation of origin and unfair competition, unfair competition, and breach of contract.

For its part, SecureMyPass “disputes many of the allegations in AXS’s complaint.” In a statement to Billboard, it argued, “SecureMyPass helps brokers deliver tickets they already own to customers who paid for them. Any customer harm cited by AXS stems from enforcement choices made at the venue level, not from ticket validity.”

The lawsuit, which was filed in a California district court on January 13th, seeks $2 million per trademark per type of fraudulent product. If successful, it will also prompt the court to impose a permanent injunction that would prevent SecureMyPass from similar practices in the future.
