Artist Spotlight: PHXLIGHTS Lineup

A Look at the PHXLIGHTS 2023 Lineup by Day

As we zoom closer to April, PHXLIGHTS: Among The Stars, produced by Relentless Beats, is quickly approaching. This illustrious EDM event will touch down at the Phoenix Raceway in Avondale, Arizona on April 7th and 8th.

This festival was inspired by the jarring event that occurred in March of 1997 where thousands of people saw lights of various descriptions from the Nevada state line, across Phoenix, and to the edge of Tucson, Arizona.

Some witnesses of that night stated this was a V-shaped UFO that contained five main spherical lights. 26 years on from this supernatural event, people still wonder: are we really alone in this universe?

One thing’s for sure: You can’t feel alone while attending PHXLIGHTS! Many out-of-this-world and up-and-coming artists will take the stage to showcase their talent. Here is a preview of what attendees can be expecting over the weekend:

His music style mixes various genres like dubstep and garage. Since the launch of his Night Bass record label, AC has managed to curate his own community in the scene!

“Suffocating” by AC Slater and Qlank features Queen Millz and sits at over 8 million plays.

Crankdat

Crankdat, also known as Christian Smith, is a DJ and electronic music producer from Ohio. He has been releasing his own music since 2016. His unique sound can be categorized as dubstep, trap, or drum and bass depending on the release.

DUSK Takes Over Tucson!

DUSK Takes Over Tucson!

DUSK Music Festival takes over Tucson, Arizona for the weekend of November 11th and 12th. This annual festival never fails to impress with its curated lineup, vendors, and art installations. DUSK has been able to evolve over the years with the amazing support of many sponsors and community partners such as Rio Nuevo, Iridius Capital, HSL Properties, and more. To see the full of sponsors, click here.

Location, Layout, and Production

DUSK is a two day festival that is located within the boundaries of Jàcome Plaza in Downtown Tucson. One aspect of DUSK that I have always admired are the praiseworthy curated drinks they offer. These drinks are inspired by popular songs of the artists performing. Flume Takes A Pit Stop At The Phoenix Raceway!

With over 20 U.S. stops, Flume finally made his way into the hearts of fans at the Phoenix Raceway this past weekend on September 3rd in Phoenix, AZ. He was able to perform on the always entertaining megastructure brought to us by Relentless Beats. Though the show may have gone through a rough patch with some initial technical difficulties, Flume brought the crowd back to life with his unique sound and stage presence.

Who Is Flume?

Harley Streten, also known as Flume, is a DJ and record producer from Australia. His self-titled debut album was released on November 9th, 2012. Many see Flume as a pioneer of the subgenre, future bass, and has helped poparize the genre over the years.

He has also won many awards, from the Australian Independent Record Awards, the APRA Music Awards, the ARIA Music Awards, the Grammy Awards, and the National Live Music Awards.

Flume has collabed with many artists over the years, including Kai, MAY-A, Vic Mensa, Vince Staples, Tove Lo, Pusha T, Toro Y Moi, and Jezzabell Doran.

Performance

Flume was able to bring Sega Bodega and TSHA as supporting acts along with Kučka

As a result of technical difficulties and time limits, Sega Bodega was sadly unable to perform. Sega Bodega is an Irish-Scottish music producer who is also a singer and a DJ. Hopefully, he can make his return to Arizona to showcase his talent! You can learn more about Sega Bodega here

TSHA is a rapidly emerging electronic artist coming out from the UK. She has been seen as a confident creative who is constantly developing and refining her own distinct feel and sound. Her set featured fun colors and good vibes. She did a great job at warming up the crowd and getting the night going. To learn more and see upcoming tour dates, you can click here

Flume’s set was absolutely incredible. As soon as he took the stage, everyone was drawn in. He started his set off strong with his remix of disclosure’s “You & Me”. It felt as if all the stress and worries at the raceway peacefully melted way. Fans were screaming and dancing in excitement throughout his whole set. Flume played “Smoke & Retribution” (ft. Vince Staples), where Kučka was able to sing and perform with him along with “ESCAPE”. We also had the pleasure of hearing songs off his most recent album, Palaces, like “I Can’t Tell” ft. LAUREL. As the night continued on, we heard classics like “Drop The Game” ft. Chet Faker, “Say It” ft. Tove Lo, “Sleepless” ft. Jezzabell Doran and “Never Be Like You” ft. Kai.

Vendors

The Phoenix Raceway also hosted a number of various vendors for food, drink, and shopping!

Attendees were able to choose from many options such as tacos, quesadillas, burgers, chicken tenders, and more. They also offered vegan pizza and wraps. For drinks, there were plenty of options that included beers, selzters, and cocktails. I am going to give an honorable mention to Maui Wowi Hawaiian that featured a variety of frozen cocktails, lemonades, and smoothies.

Apparel vendors included Kandies World, Fascinations, Waz Shop, Elite Wear, Moon Lvnding, and more!

Conclusion

Overall, I had a great time and would highly recommend his tour to all my fellow music lovers. For more information on Flume, you can check out his website here to see all his upcoming tour dates, shop for merch, and see his latest song releases!

Line up

Deadrocks had a stacked lineup with many extraordinary artists that come from a wide variety of backgrounds. The following artists are highlighted on Deadbeats, Zeds Dead’s very own record label.

Night 1: HEYZ, A Hundred Drums, DNMO, Hybrid Minds, Mersiv, and Zeds Dead

Night 2: Brux, SuperAve., Kumarion, IMANU, Blanke, and Zeds Dead

The weekend featured a mixture of EDM genres. Attendees were able to enjoy the sounds of bass, dubstep, downtime, psytrance, drum & bass, house, and surrealist club-pop. All of these artists were truly incredible to see perform live. I would highly recommend following them on socials as well as grabbing a ticket to their next show.

Zeds Dead fans got to feel a sense of euphoria during the boys’ set on both nights. The duo played so many tracks that fans have been “chasing” for years. Some of these recognizable tracks included Zeds Dead’s remix of Kiss by Jeuce, No Prayers with Omar LinX, Shut Up & Sing by Greta Svabo Bech (ZD Remix), Flickers by Son Lux (ZD Remix) and many more. Zeds Dead also showcased tracks that collabed with other fellow EDM artists like Subtronics, Peekaboo, Griz, Jauz, Blunts & Blondes, Rezz, and others.

Luckily for fans, the fun just didn’t stop there. Zeds Dead also held their Backyard Jamboree on July 4th which took place at the Civic Center Park located in Downtown Denver and played two more sets that same night for their Deadrocks Hangover show at Mission Ballroom also located in Denver.

Conclusion

Deadrocks is a very special weekend and I would 100% recommend going to anyone who is interested. This was my first Deadrocks and it definitely will not be the last time I attend this event.

Be sure to follow all of Zeds Dead socials for the latest updates and you can check out their website to check out their merch, upcoming tour dates, latest releases, and more!
