Fall is rapidly approaching, and you know what that means. It’s time for Alison Wonderland to make her annual pilgrimage to Colorado for her seventh Temple of Wonderland show. Taking over Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Friday, October 11th, Alison will be joined by Dimension, Dabow, and an as-of-yet-unnamed FMU Records contest winner.
From Classical Music to EDM
Alison Wonderland, born Alexandra Sholler, is a Jill of all trades. She’s a singer, songwriter, producer and label owner. Hailing from Australia, Sholler got her start in classical music. She played the cello in the Sydney Youth Orchestra and bass guitar in indie bands. Like most DJs before her, her love of EDM was forged one night in a dark club, hearing that one track that spurned a never-ending love.
Launching Alison Wonderland
Sholler debuted as Alison Wonderland in 2009. She played anywhere she could to get experience and to make a name for herself. She built a discography as a remixer, adding her musical touches to Sam Sparro’s “I Wish I Never Met You,” which caught the ear of Pete Tong. He played it on his BBC Radio 1 show, which led to more remixes, tours around Australia, and debut singles.
Sholler released her debut album Run, which reached #1 on the Billboard charts. Afterward, she took the U.S. by storm and has been an unstoppable force ever since. She launched her label, FMU Records. She debuted a new alias, Whyte Fang. She’s the first female to headline the main stage at EDC Las Vegas and is the highest-billed female artist at Coachella.
In addition, she accomplished all of this last year while being pregnant and welcoming her first child. She played her sixth Temple of Wonderland just four months after giving birth.
Red Rocks Wonderland
All of this makes it perfectly sensible that Sholler plays Red Rocks Amphitheatre annually. The open-air amphitheater is located just outside of Denver in Morrison. Its beautiful scenery offers the ideal backdrop for Alison Wonderland’s openness and vulnerability. The naturally occurring acoustics are perfect for her classical vibes, hard-hitting bass, and special soliloquies. Furthermore, the venue can seat almost 10,000 attendees, which doesn’t take away from the intimacy that Alison provides.
Alison Wonderland is more than just a DJ. She’s an artist, a performer, and someone who specially curates each show with live elements. She puts her heart and soul into each one, and her emotions on display. In other words, Alison Wonderland at Red Rocks Amphitheatre this October 11th is a show not to be missed.
